"Madonna of the Prairie," by WHD Koerner. A lot of us older guys were taught that this is what the pioneers really looked like. Notice her dainty hands on the reins; you'd never know there were large animals yanking on the other end. I especially like her lace collar and the brooch at her throat. And it's so nice to see that she wore her Sunday shawl to cross the prairies. How she kept those plump and rosy cheeks is a miracle. But the most important clue that we're seing a holy image here is what?
